High Commission of Eswatini Participates in Commonwealth Day Celebrations in London

The High Commission of the Kingdom of Eswatini participated in the Commonwealth Day celebrations held in London on 9 March 2026, under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities Together for a Prosperous Commonwealth.” The theme highlights the commitment of the Commonwealth’s 56 member states to work collectively to expand opportunities, strengthen cooperation, and improve the lives of citizens across the Commonwealth.

The High Commissioner, Her Excellency Thandazile Mbuyisa took part in the official proceedings, which brought together members of the British Royal Family, Foreign Ministers, High Commissioners, and other dignitaries from across the Commonwealth. The commemorative events included a multi-faith service of celebration at Westminster Abbey, attended by nearly 2,000 guests.

As part of the traditional procession during the Westminster Abbey service, Mr. Wakhile A. Gwebu proudly served as the flag bearer for the Kingdom of Eswatini, carrying the national flag alongside representatives of the other Commonwealth member countries. The procession of flags symbolised the diversity and unity of the Commonwealth family.

Commonwealth Day is observed annually across the Commonwealth and serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the shared values of peace, cooperation, and prosperity among member states.
