Ambassador Thandazile Mbuyisa Presents Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden

Her Excellency Ambassador Thandazile Mbuyisa formally presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of the Kingdom of Sweden on 22 May 2026, marking the official commencement of her tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the Kingdom of Sweden.
The credential presentation ceremony represents an important milestone in the continued development of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Kingdom of Sweden, which have enjoyed many years of cordial cooperation and mutual respect.
During her visit to Sweden, Ambassador Mbuyisa undertook a series of high-level engagements with representatives of the Swedish Government, civil society organisations, development partners, and institutions with established interests and programmes in Eswatini. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on areas of mutual interest and to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration.
The Ambassador held discussions with officials from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), representatives of the Church of Sweden, and other stakeholders. The engagements focused on strengthening cooperation in areas including trade and investment, public health, sustainable development, women and children’s health, and economic partnership.
A key theme emerging from the discussions was Sweden’s growing interest in advancing mutually beneficial economic cooperation and sustainable partnerships with African countries, including Eswatini, alongside its longstanding development cooperation efforts.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the Kingdom of Eswatini to reaffirm its commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Sweden and promoting cooperation that contributes to shared prosperity, sustainable development, and stronger people-to-people ties.
The High Commission of the Kingdom of Eswatini looks forward to working closely with Swedish partners to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
